Substitute p90x workouts to bulk up?
I love the less cardio/more bulking workouts in p90x (like the plyometrics, chest&back, legs&back, shoulders&arms, etc), but i’m trying to gain mass and i feel like the kenpo and yoga (or more cardio/less muscle building) workouts don’t help with that. Would it help me to just take those days out and substitute a light lift in the gym or swimming for them? It would only be one or two days a week that i’d sub out. Any thoughts are helpful.
Make sure you give your body time to rest those muscles, or they won’t really build.
That’s a big reason they recommend taking a day for rest/stretching, and a day or two for cardiovascular work or even additional stretching. Besides, cardiovascular exercise tends to lead to better inner health and increased visible muscle tone.
If you must, I’d say go swimming over lifting weights on those days.
