New Iron Man 2 Trailer in HD
December 14, 2009 by Iron Man
If you are like me, May 7, 2010 is a date which is etched into your brain and you just cannot wait for that month to come around. That’s because on that date, the new Iron Man movie is coming to theaters. However, if you can’t wait until then to see Iron Man 2, you can check out the new Iron Man 2 Movie Trailer right now. The effects are awesome and it looks like it’s going to be another blockbuster film.
As you may remember, at the end of the last movie, Tony Stark revealed himself before a press conference to be Iron Man. The cat was let out of the bag and now he’s off saving the world. The hints we’re getting from the new trailer include magazine headlines informing us that Stark wants to bring peace to the world and a Senate hearing where Stark refuses to turn over the Iron Man suit to the American Government. However, he does tell the assembled crowd that he has privatized world peace.
What’s especially great to see is Robert Downey Jr. offering his usual perspective on the whole subject of being Iron Man. He’s back to his carefree, go lucky self and is surrounded by beautiful babes in what appears to be an Iron Man benefit concert.
Of course the movie wouldn’t be complete without a new villain and true to form, the new Iron Man 2 movie trailer shows us that they’ve got a doozy for us this time. Whiplash, apparently given that name because he has whips to lash people with and not because he was in a car accident, will be facing off against Stark in this new installment of the franchise.
There isn’t a whole lot of information about the details, however the trailer does show us the fearless Iron Man battling Whiplash (played by Mickey Rourke by the way) and causing all kinds of great mayhem, including exploding airplanes and cars.
One interesting feature that I saw in the new film was when Tony, as Iron Man is surrounded by what seems to be a whole army of Iron Men. It remains to be seen what that’s supposed to be about. There isn’t a whole lot being told regarding exact plot details.
The only official info I found was that Scarlet Johansson will be playing Black Widow, Stark’s assistant who is also a spy and that Pepper Potts has now taken over as the CEO of Stark Industries.
If you’d like to see the new Iron Man 2 Movie Trailer, you can check it out for yourself. I know I’ll be scrutinizing it further for still more clues about the upcoming movie. And of course I’m waiting with baited breath like all of you for new feature to come out. It’s gonna be an Iron ride!
Ironman 2: Who is Ironman
October 29, 2009 by Iron Man
So exactly who is the Ironman? We’ve all seen the movie, but let’s hear a little something about how this character was first created. He is of course based on a super hero from a comic book. The character first appeared in Tales of Suspense #39 (March 1963), and was created by Stan Lee and Larry Lieber, and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby.
The Ironman starts off his life as a billionaire playboy who is off showing his weapons of mass destruction. As Robert Downey Jr. so memorably says at the beginning of the movie, “most people feel that the best weapon is one you have never have to use. I say the best weapon is one you only have to use once. That’s the way America has always done it and it worked out pretty well for them.” He is changed when he gets kidnapped and forced to build an ultimate weapon for a group of terrorists. He instead builds himself a suit of armor which he wears and the Iron Man is born. Being a genius, Stark does not just build himself a suit of armor, but literally builds a suit of armor capable of doing almost anything. He can fly, he has all manner of weapons and he is all but impervious to any kind of weapons fire.
Initially, Iron Man was a way for Stan Lee to explore Cold War themes. He was particularly interested in the role of American technology and business in the fight against what was then perceived as the communist threat. At first, the Ironman was completely against communism and did everything to stamp it out, but that attitude changed gradually when the Vietnam war heated up and so many people were against the fight that it was felt that Iron Man needed to get out there and say exactly how he felt.
Later on, Iron Man was re-invented (isn’t it nice how super heroes can reinvent themselves whenever they feel like it and they are always young?) to face more contemporary problems such as crime and corporate greed.
The character used to be a member of the Avengers super hero team and also spent a bit of time hanging out with the Incredible hulk, but it was only recently that Ironman got a world all his own in a series of comic books beginning in 2005 with the “Extremis” story line written by Warren Ellis.
Ironman Games — Redress Robert Downey Jr.
October 29, 2009 by Iron Man
A search on Google for Ironman games brought up lots of material. For example, there are the official games based on the movie where you can don the Iron Man suit and actually go flying around saving the world from bad guys. You can use the suit to shoot fire, missiles and repulsor beams just like in the movie and of course you can fly and hover. Similarly to the movie, the game also has a limited power supply and if you use it up, you die. Okay, but for those who want something a little bit different, I actually found an Iron Man dress up game.
Believe it or not, you can actually redress Robert Downey Jr., the Iron Man himself in any way that you like. You will be able to actually change the color and design of the suit that the Iron Man wears. The suit comes in a variety of colors and with a variety of different types of weapons built in, presumably based on knowledge gleaned from the various iterations of the suit in the original Marvel comics (did you know that in the comics, Iron Man is able to carry his suit inside of a briefcase – now that’s some job of miniaturization, eh?). The game starts with Iron man in the buff, but parents, not to worry. This is actually a cartoon visualization of Iron Man and a non anatomically correct version at that. There is nothing to see but the most basic torso (sorry, I kind of lied when I said you would actually dress up Robert Downey Jr, but hey, a girl can dream can’t she?).
Once you get the Iron Man dressed up in this Ironman game, there is unfortunately not much else to do. The game does let you keep switching out different types of suits of armor and different colors and weapons, but then that’s it. You don’t get to go flying the suit around and stopping bad guys. It definitely seems to be aimed at young girls who like to play dress up with Ken dolls and figure Robert Downy Jr. would make an awesome Ken doll.
If dress up isn’t your thing, there are other Ironman games available on the net. There are games where you can actually play Ironman, going off to fight the bad guys, though the graphics tend to be somewhat more limited than what you could get in the actual movie game. Still, if you don’t have a game console, it’s a possibility at least.
Iron Man 2 Will be BIG
October 22, 2009 by Iron Man
By now we’ve all seen the surprise break out hit of the last summer, Iron Man. However, what’s going on with the new movie, Iron Man 2? When is it coming out, who’s going to be starring in the film? And most importantly, will it be as good as the original or are we going to see a second movie flop like so many other sequels. It is a rare film indeed that exceeds the previous one that was made (the one stand out exception I can think of is Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn which should have been the first movie, considering how incredibly lame the first one was, but that’s another story) and so director Jon Favreu has a tall order on his hands.
Let’s start by talking about the stars. Most of your favorites will be back for the encore presentation. Robert Downey Jr. of course is going to be playing the Iron Man once again and will be confronting an increasingly serious drinking problem on screen (a problem he personally knows something about so we expect his performance will be quite good on this subject), Gwyneth Paltrow, the sexy seductress from so many teenage boy’s fantasies is reprising her role as Pepper Potts, although she will now be joined by Scarlett Johanssen who is taking on the role of Natasha Romanoff (Iron Man’s new secretary and also the Black Widow). The only major cast member not to return is Terrence Howard who played Col. James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes, Tony Stark’s best friend. He will be replaced by Don Cheadle of Oceans 11 fame.
The story for Iron Man 2 as we understand so far will be following Iron Man’s life after he revealed himself to the press. He is now suffering from a serious drinking problem and is trying to come to grips with his new fame and infamy as the Iron Man. We have been told that the movie will not be following the serious drinking problems that were chronicled in Marvel Comics “Demon in a Bottle” story. Instead, this will be a kind of in between time, between the origin of Iron Man and that low point in his life.
What we do know for sure is that Iron Man 2 is a big deal for the studio and for director Jon Favreau. They need a win on this one in order to show that the first movie was not a fluke.
Iron Man Game in X-Box, Play Station 2 and Windows XP

Well now that Robert Downey Jr. has managed to bring Iron Man to life on the big screen and director Jon Favreu is busy putting the finishing touches on the second movie, it’s time to take a look at the Iron Man game that came out recently.
In the game, you will become the snarky and smooth talking Tony Stark (aka Iron Man). He is a multi billionaire who runs a successful corporation, the Stark Corp. together with his bodacious assistant, Pepper Potts (played by Gwyneth Paltrow in the film). Tony builds himself a suit of Iron which allow him a great many super hero powers. With his suit, he has the ability to fly (always a useful thing for a super-hero, after all they need to get places fast), blast repulsor rays (kind of like laser beams or maybe even a Star Trek style phaser?), and of course he can hurl ICBM missiles with ease (well hey, he’s got to have that ability too, I mean what if he needs to start a war or something?).
In all seriousness though, the game is actually a pretty cool adaptation of the movie and one that provides for pretty smooth game play. The weapons Iron Man was able to use in the demo were fairly generic… standard tanks, SAMs (surface-to-air missiles), and anti-air guns.
His main weapons however will be the aforementioned repulsor rays, which are shot either from his palms or from a node on his chest. The repulsor rays are definitely the more powerful of his weapons, however you should be aware that they will drain significantly more energy so you need to be careful in your use of them.
In the Iron Man game, Iron Man also has the ability to grab incoming missiles and hurl them back the way they came, basically creating the ultimate missile defense system (Barack Obama should be in touch to look into options for the European Missile Defense system). Iron Man can also “hover” or “fly.” The two abilities are kept separate and pretty much work the way you might think they would work, allowing him to stand above a single location like a helicopter or to fly somewhere else in a hurry. He also has super-speed, however that does reduce his maneuverability.
The Iron Man game is available in several formats including X-Box, Play Station 2 and Windows XP.
The Iron Man Marvel
October 15, 2009 by Iron Man
One of the best Marvel IronMan story lines was the “Demon in a Bottle” story. It tells the story of Tony Stark slowly descending into the oblivion that comes from drinking excessively and at all hours of the day. Here is a brief run down of the plot:
Tony Stark is on board an aircraft when a military tank comes flying out at the plane and hits them, sending them hurtling into oblivion. Stark whips out the Iron Man suit (which he conveniently carries in a suitcase) and saves the day, bringing the tank and the plane down to a nearby military base. The people at the base tell Iron Man that Namor had thrown the tank because he was trying to defend the people of a small island from being evacuated. It turns out that the island has been used as a toxic waste dump and Iron Man confronts and fights Namor, before he finds out that the soldiers in question actually belong to the Roxxon Oil Corporation, which has secretly been using the island as a mine for valuable mineral vibranium. Iron Man teams up with his nemesis to defeat the soldiers; however, before they are able to finish the job, the soldiers manage to set off a series of explosives which destroy the island.
On the way home, Iron Man’s suit malfunctions and he starts to fly through the air uncontrollably, eventually crash landing. He finally makes his way home, inspects the suit and finds nothing wrong. Later, while foiling a robbery attempt at a casino, his suit malfunctions again and he accidentally kills an ambassador. During this time, Stark’s drinking increases significantly.
Furthering Stark’s problems, the Avengers ask him to step down as the leader of the team, at least for the time being since he cannot seem to control his suit. He is eventually imprisoned and escapes, but the experience leaves him a broken man.
The Marvel IronMan story continues when he arrives home and begins binge drinking and lashing out at his butler, Edwin Jarvis. The next day, Jarvis resigns and Stark is left alone with the bottle.
Continuing to drink to forget his problems, Stark is a wreck. His friend Beth confronts him and warns him of the dangers of drinking and how her husband had gotten hooked on drugs and actually separated from her and eventually died of an overdose. He agrees to let Beth help him and eventually gets back on his feet, first apologizing to his butler Jarvis and eventually to everyone else in his life as well.
The story was a powerful one because it put a super-hero into the light of every day life, that they are people too and they too can make mistakes. The Marvel IronMan story is important and should be read by teenagers everywhere who can get an idea of the danger of drugs and alcoholism.
Anticipation Builds for Ironman 2
October 15, 2009 by Iron Man
If you’re a die hard Iron Man fan and just cannot wait for the movie Ironman 2 to arrive in theaters, just wait ’till you hear about this: Two lucky (and presumably obscenely wealthy) fans will be having the time of their lives when they get to personally attend the premier of the movie together with the lady of the hour, Scarlett Johanssen, who plays Tony Stark’s secretary in the new movie, Natasha Romanoff, AKA the Black Widow. “How do I get those tickets?” You ask? “I simply must have them”, you say? Well I’m sorry to have to tell you that you are too late. The tickets were made available for auction as a way to raise money for charity. Unfortunately for all you fans who wanted a chance, the auction ended back on September 24, 2009. The auction was held to benefit Jogannssen’s favorite charity, Oxfam.
Oxfam, according to their web site is “A group of non-governmental organizations from three continents working worldwide to fight poverty and injustice.”
“Oxfam is an incredibly worthy organization that I’m most passionate about.” Johanssen said in a statement recently and no wonder – she has attended many of their events and even acts as an ambassador (basically, someone who goes to various trouble spots around the world and represents herself as offering hope and help on behalf of Oxfam) for the organization.
The winning bidder on eBay and his or her guest have been offered the chance to attend the Hollywood premiere of the IronMan 2 movie (travel expenses not included) and will also receive a complimentary session at the Cristophe Salon in Beverly Hills, California so that he or she can be properly primmed for the gala event.
Also up for bids at the same eBay site will be a signed LP record from Iron Man 2 Star Scarlett Johannsen herself, her hit single “Realtor” (a duet with Pete Yorn) and her very own chair from the set of the movie “He’s Just Not That Into You.”
As the excitement over the new IronMan 2 movie grows, one may expect that Johannessen will try to find additional material to auction off in order to help her favorite cause, so be sure to keep checking around and who knows, maybe you too can get a ticket to the gala event. If nothing else, check out Iron Man 2 in theaters this spring.
